Course Description

This course explores the necessary skills to analyze and report on OneStream data using the Microsoft Excel Add-in. It is designed for End Users, and investigates the capabilities of the Excel Add-In, and the selection of dimension members for inclusion in spreadsheet reports.

Attendees will gain an appreciation of both the calculation and the submission status of data as well as an understanding of how data in OneStream is aggregated, calculated, translated, and consolidated. Learners will discover the choices available for analyzing OneStream data in Microsoft Excel including cube views, quick views, and functions.

The course explores the most appropriate and efficient approach for analysis and reporting. Students will open cube views created by system administrators and will review the various styles that can be used for formatting. In addition, they will find out how cube views can be used to create quick views and functions.

Attendees will explore the methods available to create quick views and find out how to control the placement of column and row members and filters to specify the selection of members for analysis. Attendees will also find out more about the ‘member filter builder’ and assess the best ways to select hierarchical dimension members.

This course investigates XF Functions used to both read and write data to and from OneStream. Attendees will learn about the different types of functions available and gain an understanding of the syntax used to create highly formatted, structured reports. Learners will also find out how extensible documents can be used to display data from OneStream in other Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
