Learning objectives

Learn the various approaches for loading source data into analytical applications using FDMEE. As a system administrator you'll need to understand how to integrate FDMEE with numerous source and target systems.  You’ll need to define mapping tables and import formats, define validation reports and work with locations and load rules to load data. Students will also learn to define user and object security.

Course description

Explore the look, feel and functionality of FDMEE. Find out how to load data to HFM, Planning and Essbase and discover how to synchronise data seamlessly across these products. You’ll be taught how to create and maintain mapping tables and mapping scripts and build import formats to define ledger output files. You will work with Life Cycle Management and see how to back up or migrate your application. You will gain an understanding of the Excel Interface and  explore the underlying FDMEE relational database. This course also includes a brief introduction to the Jython scripting language used by FDMEE, although a more detailed scripting course is also available.

Day 1:

FDMEE process overview, sources & targets, category & period mapping, import formats, locations & load rules, mapping tables, importing & validating source files, functions & expressions, multi-period loads

Day 2:

Check rule groups, simple & complex logic accounts, journals, batches, report definitions, security, lifecycle management, creating import scripts using Jython, what’s new in 11.1.2.4

Day 3:

Data synchronisation, using the Excel interface, protection settings for HFM, mapping scripts, metadata and writeback overview, configuring ODI, understanding the FDMEE database, FDM to FDMEE migration notes, case study
